Anne Sutherland
My work is an expression of an emotional response to color using various methods of applying paint to the surface. I use mostly abstract approaches. The story I tell on the canvas visually replicates chaos and calm; life itself. Reworking, pushing past familiarity is also important to me. Creating without overthinking, allowing process plenty of space on the canvas, I apply decades of teaching color theory, learned painting experiences and the influences of the beautiful landscape around me.
