Catherine Wagner Minnery

"I am compelled to paint, to draw, to reimagine the beauty and the wonder, that I experience and observe. I use my notes, studies and photographs; adding and subtracting elements until I am at least somewhat satisfied with my attempt. My work is informed but not constrained by observation. For me, creating art is an organized act that is driven by a spiritual as well as a physical passion. I like Paul Klee?s creative credo; 'Art does not replicate what we see; rather it makes us see.' "

Catherine Wagner Minnery’s formal art education started at the University of Cincinnati where she was a fashion design student. But in her second year of study, she left the university and started her fine art studies at the Art Academy of Cincinnati. She graduated with a fine arts certificate and went on to finishing her academic degree at the University of Cincinnati evening college. 
She obtained several positions in the field of advertising, later freelancing as a designer and illustrator. Attending a landscape painting intensive at the Vermont Studio Center was pivotal in her education as an artist and painting became her main focus. 
She was an exhibiting artist for 15 years at the Piermont Flywheel Gallery, Piermont NY. Her work is included in private, corporate and public collections.
