Karen Koziol

"I grew up on a dairy farm about two miles away from the site of the Landscapes for Landsakes show. I spent most of my childhood in this landscape, playing in its fields, watching the seasons change from the school bus window. As an adult, after living other places, I came back to it. It is in me. I am continuously astounded by its beauty. The work that I created for this year's show reflects that connection."

After a considerable journey toward becoming a potter, I went to art school through Skidmore's University without Walls. After several years, I got sidetracked with home renovation and building a family. The materials found in those renovations gave birth to my work as an assemblage/collage artist. That was 33 years ago. I have since added metal working, encaustic painting, printmaking and fiber techniques to my practice. I am always looking for ways for various mediums to interact.
